How Much Photoshopping Is Too Much?
You may wonder how one notices that a photo is edited so
much, or even how a photo that has got so much editing looks like. First, we
have e to look at the real meaning of photoshopping. Photoshopping typically
means, to alter a photo by use of a photoshop software.
Photoshopping is done in order to acquire the best out of
your photo. A simple photoshop can magnify the important details of a photo.
The various entities considered while photoshopping are contrast, sharpness,
saturation, vibrancy, levels and cropping. But then if these entities are used
in excess, they distort the photo and hence the photo loses its originality.
To what extent is
photoshopping too much? The discussion below will answer this important question:
1. Saturation
Saturation adds more depth of colour to our photos when
we edit them. It makes the colours in photos to be viewed vividly. For us to
acquire the best saturation, we should increase it gradually. However, the photo might achieve very bad
results if the saturation goes beyond the required level. This will make the
colours in the photo have so much intensity and therefore look fake. Too much
photoshopping will come out when we see the photo oversaturated and this makes
it look ridiculous.
2. Sharpness
Sharpness in photoshop is very important. This is because
it helps remove blurriness and fuzziness from photos. By doing this it means
the edges of the photo are altered keenly by the use of Photoshop as the
editing factor. If the photo has got a high number of pixels, then it is
rendered sharp but it will become too much if we exceed the normal level of the
lens blur. Too much of the ‘amount ‘ and
‘radius’ will make the photo look counterproductive and distorted.
3. Contrast
While photoshopping, we should put contrast into
consideration. By adjusting contrast, the brightness of a photo is
determined. We can realize that there is
too much photoshopping when we look at a photo and the lights or darks are
clipped, this tells us that the photo has lost details because of too much
photoshopping. When there is too much photoshopping, we can notice that the
edges of the images have halos and thus the image has no detail at all.
4. Levels
By using photoshop, levels are adjusted by the use of
curves. We should adjust the tonal range of the image in order to get the best
results. However, too much-photoshopping spoils the clarity of the image since
too much adjustment of the curves makes the image to have either so much light
or too dark. if the middle pointer moves too much higher than 1.00 or much
lower, then that is too much photoshopping.
5. Cropping
Cropping is simply cutting out that which is not
necessary for a photo by use of photoshop. If there is something in a picture
that makes it lose meaning then it can be cropped. Nevertheless, if an image is
cropped without reason, then it loses meaning and that is too much
photoshopping.
In conclusion, when we use too much effect in photoshop
to edit a photo, the photo becomes of no essence and that is too much
photoshopping.
